How does The Virtual Gastric Band Programme work?
With the aid of hypnosis, it's possible to suggest to the subconscious mind that the client has undergone a surgical gastric band procedure. The client is told that their stomach has a band around the top, drastically reducing its capacity. The client is then encouraged to eat slowly and consciously as if they had a band in place. This gives the stomach a chance to send signals to the brain that it's sufficiently full and the client, who is learning to listen out for those signals, stops eating sooner than they used to.
Will I be out of control whilst under hypnosis?
Hypnotic trance is simply a state of extreme relaxation. You will be aware of everything you hear; you cannot be made to do anything you don't wish to do, and if any suggestion is made that is against your moral code, you would simply snap out of the trance.
What is a hypnotic trance?
Hypnotic trance is a very natural state. We all enter a trance-like state several times a day. Like when you drive somewhere and, when you arrive, you can't remember the journey; or when you drift off into a daydream during a boring meeting; or even when you become intensely focussed on something, to the extent that you can block out all background noise or other distractions. It's all trance. It occurs when the conscious "chattering" part of your mind simply switches off and hands over to the subconscious mind.
Who developed the Virtual Gastric Band Programme?
I did my training with Sheila Granger. In trials of her programme, Sheila found that 24 out of 25 people lost weight over the four week period of her programme - those 24 people lost a whopping 24 stone. Sheila is currently negotiating to get NHS trials of the Virtual Gastric Band Programme underway. All therapists who trained with her will have the chance to take part in these trials.
Will four sessions be enough if I have lots of weight to lose?
The programme consists of four sessions; with four sessions you will learn what you need to acquire new habits which will set you on the path to reaching your healthy body weight. However, if you have lots of weight to lose it may well suit you to have occasional follow-up appointments. These follow-up appointments will be charged at a reduced rate. |
